Apple in sexy new iPods shocker

As reported here last week. Apple have announced their new music and media lineup for the next 12 months.
A revamped iPod Touch, a totally new iPod Nano and the much anticipated re-imagining of the Apple TV were all unveiled by Steve Jobs at the Apple press conference in San Francisco yesterday (1st September 2010).
The iPod Touch looks slick and now comes with the same Retina display screen boasted by the iPhone 4. In fact with the addition of FaceTime and a HD video camera, it’s now pretty much an iPhone 4 without the phone.

Apple TV to be relaunched iTV?

A much rumoured press event to be held by Apple on September 1st 2010 could unveil their next planned assault on your living room.
As well as the now annual updates and revisions to the iPod range it looks like the California based computer bods are finally ready to turn Apple TV into more than just the hobby it’s been since its initial release way back in 2007.

BlackBerry look over their shoulders

They must have known at RIM the time would come, 5 years ago out there on their own, ready for when businesses woke up and realised it wanted email on the go, BlackBerry cleaned up and made pots of cash With exchange servers and qwerty mobiles. Even when they really got into top gear and launched the BlackBerry Pearl, those executives must have thought, it cannot last.
Like the lead lone cyclist going for victory after an early breakaway, the ‘pelaton’ is catching – no it’s caught up and BlackBerry who was the only show in town has been swamped!

Apple answers iPhone 4s signal issue

Apple is to offer a free case for every iPhone 4 owner. In a hastily arranged press conference Steve Jobs took to the stage once more albeit a more humble affair than the fanfare of June 7th.
The case should help overcome the ‘Big’ issue of signal dropping. Although as I’ve previously stated, it isn’t really that big a deal and to my mind, more a mixture of media overhyping and the new phenominom of online Apple bashing.

The rumors of Apple relauching it’s Apple TV continue a pace with news coming through of TV show rentals being made available for just 99 cents (propably 99p to you and me).
These shows will no longer be downloaded to your box but instead streamed direct from your iTunes account. This fits in with the other rumors of the new Apple TV being purely Cloud based with no harddrive to cut down production costs. 2 Weeks with the iPhone 4 » Review

So I’ve had my iPhone 4 for nearly 2 weeks now, was it worth the 2+ hour wait? I’m still not sure, maybe maybe not, the foul ambience of a West Yorkshire shopping centre didn’t help with its muffled PA blurting out a pappy mix of Gareth Gates, 911 and other 90′s crap who’s existance you’d long since forgotten about.
Anyway lets get back to the phone and I’m please to report its a case of so far so good, very impresive with no real issues or bugs to report. The much reported signal loss issue hasn’t really bothered me at More >
YouTube on your mobile

YouTube have finally revamped their website to offer the full YouTube experience no matter what browser you use even if you’re viewing on your mobile.
Now promised to run even faster and with more user friendly controls (hopefully designed with my stubby little fingers in mind).
YouTube also seem to be following the Facebook rules of web domination by also adding ‘Like’ and ‘Dislike’ tags as well as the ability to choose your favourite videos and playlists. All this can now easily be accessed in your mobile browser window.
Whether this ultimately renders the built-in iPhone YouTube App redundant remains to be seen.

Blu-Ray finally wins

I’ve resisted temptation for 5 years, but fear I can resist no more. I want a Blu-Ray player. There I’ve said it, its out in the open.
Occasionally I get an idea in my head that I won’t like something and it sticks there like a stubborn mule until reason finally kicks in. My Disitation at Uni was all about how the Internet was just a passing fad that would never take off and quickly be surpassed by the next big thing (at the time I truly believed this).
