Celebrity Masterchef » Review

So I’m a fan. Why? Because it takes skill, you have to work hard and there is a humble desire amongst the contestants to win. When it comes to Celebrity Masterchef there are also no prima donnas, no ego’s, just people who love to cook and just happen to be a bit famous.
This atmosphere is reflected in the way the competition is presented and the good spirit of the contestants – of which there was no better example than with the 3 finalists, Dick Strawbridge, Christine Hamilton and the eventual winner the plucky, timid, yet talented Lisa Faulkner.
Yes it might be a bit formulaic and presenters John Torode and Greg Wallace, do go through a well worn batch of scripted lines, but in a way that is part of Masterchef’s charm.
Whether you like your food and cooking, or not, it makes great television and you have tot respect the celebrities for the challenges they face and it certainly surpasses watching some has-been eating a few Aussie bugs for TV kicks.
We are not there for show, we don’t have people come in and finish off and make it all look good, you are stuck in a kitchen, given a recipe you have never seen and told – you’ve got 2 hours, get on with it, and by the way, the chef expects Michelin standard.

Cooking does not get any better than this!
